To promote good hair growth, you need to increase your protein intake. Hair follicles are mostly made of protein, and the lack of it promotes hair loss. Proteins 'feed' the hair from the inside. Cutting hair will not alter your hair thickness. The thickness of your hair strands is determined by factors like your genetics, environment, age, and health. However, while cutting hair won't make it grow thicker, it can certainly make it appear thicker.
